SUMMER CAMP

THIS SUMMER high school camp will be held at camp Wartburg in Waterloo, IL. JULY 11-15, 2011. The camp has beautiful cabins, a lake, a swimming pool, a dirt bike trail, a high ropes course and a team building course. I have put together an amazing camp experience where students can choose their own adventures. We will all participate in the River Canoe as a group but each camper will get to choose 2 adventures from the list on page 4. Please carefully select your adventures and make sure your favorite friends have selected the same adventures.

Because this is a high school only camp, I have decided to center our theme on the Song of Songs. The Song of Songs (also called the Song of Solomon) is a beautiful love story about a man and a woman. The book literally opens with this line:

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth:

for thy love is better than wine.

Strong Tower Mission

STRONG TOWER is a ministry located on 102 acres in Foristell, Missouri. Chapel of the Lake has supported Strong Tower for many years and this summer our high school teens have the opportunity to serve and support as well. JUNE 27 – JULY 1, 2011. Here is what we are going to do:

DAY CAMP

You will serve as leaders, councilors, teachers and servants at a Day Camp for children ages 7-14. All of these children are going to be bussed in from LINC. You will spend the morning ministering to these children.

FELLOWSHIP AND FUN

The Day Camp is over each day at 4:00 PM. At that point we will have some fun riding horses, swimming, and playing games.

CEF TRAINING

We will also participate in a CEF Training course that will prepare you to lead GoodNews Clubs in local elementary schools and at LINC. Beginning in the fall of 2011, I am going to ask High School Students to be leaders, adopt an elementary school and run a GoodNews Club that will lead children to Jesus.

So, as you can see, it is extremely important for you to participate in this mission experience. Not only will you serve our friends at STR, but you will also get to minister to our friends at LINC. And you will be trained to be a GoodNews Club leader. All of that in just 5 days — wow!

LINC Block Party Postponed

As of today (Thursday, June 16th) there are only 2 adults and 3 youth committed to volunteer and minister at the LINC BLOCK PARTY scheduled for tommorrow. In order to truelly minister to and engage the community at Hidden Valley, we really need about 4 volunteers and at least 12 or more people to mingle, engage and develop relationships. So, becaue our purpose for this Block Party is to develop friendships and relationships in that context, I am postponing the event to July/Aug.

Battle of the Bands

Alright! This April 2nd, 2011, we’re going to have a concert that will blow you away! Last Year we had everything, from rock, to hip-hop, indie, screamo, and some country even. Come enjoy all this music in an awesome envirement with great food, drinks, and Josiah’s amazing coffee! We had over 300 people attend the event and we hope to have even more this year.

If you know of a band, then tell them, and if you are in a band then you’ve got to come.
Bands will have a chance to get their music and their name out, and the winning band will receive a prize (yet to be announced)
